The Modern Warfare 4 integration brings two new maps, new equipment and a different progression loop. Here is what actually changes for returning Warzone squads.
Warzone Season 1 changes more than the map rotation
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 began November 6, 2026, at midnight ET, according to Activision's official schedule. The Modern Warfare 4 integration adds Hajin for Battle Royale, Zodiac for Resurgence, more than 30 new weapons, new movement and equipment tools, and a different progression path. Raven Software's November 5 patch notes also confirm that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One support ends with this update, while Nintendo Switch 2 joins the platform list.
For returning players, the biggest practical change is that familiar systems no longer work exactly as before. Player levels reset for the new season's shared progression, Tactical Sprint is available without a Perk but lasts a little less time, and teammates can be dragged while being revived. Old weapons remain accessible, but their builds are preset instead of fully editable in the new Gunsmith. We checked Activision's overview and Raven's patch notes for those claims. This is an editorial analysis of published changes, not a report from our own match session.
A squad should choose between large Battle Royale, fast Resurgence or a lower-pressure Rally Point session to learn the new tools. The updated loadout rules make that choice consequential.
- Launch: November 6, 2026 at 00:00 ET, or November 5 at 21:00 PT.
- New launch maps: Hajin for Battle Royale and Zodiac for Resurgence.
- New learning mode: Rally Point on Zodiac, with no Gas Circle and unlimited Resurgence.
- New platform: Nintendo Switch 2. Support ends for PS4 and Xbox One.
- Returning weapons: usable through the Legacy tab with preset builds.
Hajin makes Battle Royale rotations less predictable
Hajin is a large Korean Peninsula map with 13 major points of interest, ranging from dense city blocks to farmland, rivers and forested hills. Raven's patch notes specify six possible weather scenarios selected at the beginning of a match: Clear, Wind, Heavy Wind, Sun Showers, Passing Rain and Growing Storm. The official probabilities are 30%, 20%, 15%, 15%, 10% and 10% respectively. Those numbers describe selection odds, not a guarantee that a preferred weather type will appear during your session.
The interesting tactical implication is information quality. A familiar rooftop sightline may be easier to use in clear weather than during an intensifying storm. At the same time, changing visibility can make rotations and revives feel different without moving a single building. Activision says the team prioritized visibility, so we are not claiming weather makes the map unreadable. We are saying squads should verify sightlines in the current match instead of copying a route learned under another condition.
- Clear 30%; Wind 20%; Heavy Wind 15%.
- Sun Showers 15%; Passing Rain 10%; Growing Storm 10%.
- Weather is chosen at match start; the final storm scenario intensifies toward late Gas Circles.
- Hajin Gulag has two variants and allows mantling on many obstacles.
Zodiac is built around layered Resurgence routes
Zodiac takes Resurgence into a South Korean drone manufacturing complex with ten points of interest. Offices, factory floors, rooftops, underground passages and moving trains give teams several vertical and horizontal routes. Raven says it improved visibility and footstep audio after the beta, especially around Sentinel Overpass, Old Mines and sewer routes. The patch also reduces train spawn rates by about 25% to address an excess of high-tier loot.
That train change matters because a fast-moving loot source can dictate the first minute of a Resurgence match. Fewer train appearances could reduce the incentive for every squad to collide at the same moving target. Raven still lists between zero and five Legendary Supply Boxes and four to twelve Basic Supply Boxes per train, so a train remains potentially valuable. We cannot infer the average loot outcome without match data, and the official range is wide.
Zodiac's routes should reward squads that communicate which layer they occupy. A callout such as 'beneath Trackline' is more useful than a broad POI name when an enemy can arrive by roof, rail or tunnel. This is our analytical takeaway from the map structure, not a first-hand map guide. The published patch notes give the layout and loot changes; players will have to establish the reliable angles in actual matches.
- Ten POIs across a compact Resurgence map.
- Moving trains, underground tunnels, rooftops and interactive hazards.
- Train spawn rate reduced by approximately 25% since beta.
- Each train can carry 0–5 Legendary and 4–12 Basic Supply Boxes.
Rally Point gives returning players a place to learn
Rally Point is a 20-player Zodiac mode with no Gas Circle, unlimited Resurgence and drop-in/drop-out play. Raven describes it as a place to explore Warzone's systems, complete Contracts, face hostile soldiers and build Cash. It also has Neutral Grounds where players can change loadouts, redeploy, collect payouts or form squads. Those rules make it the clearest first stop for someone trying to understand Season 1 without treating every death as the end of a match.
Our practical reading is to use Rally Point for controlled questions. Try one weapon, one movement tool or one section of Zodiac at a time. A no-circle environment makes it easier to notice how a zipline or drone changes a route. Once the interaction makes sense, take that knowledge into Resurgence. This is a learning method we propose from the mode's rules, not a claim that we tested its reward pace.
The new equipment changes squad positioning
The Zipline Launcher creates a line to high ground or across terrain, and it remains until retrieved or destroyed. Activision explicitly warns that enemy Operators can use it too. That turns a quick flank into a possible open door behind your squad. The Grabber Drone can recover loot, move environmental objects and even pick up a downed teammate, but its battery is limited. Both tools expand what a team can do between fights; both create decisions about timing and exposure.
Season 1 also adds movable objects such as fuel barrels, dumpsters and concrete cylinders. Raven marks these with an X and says they can create cover, roadblocks or traps. Only fuel barrels are available on Rebirth Island during this season. The map-dependent availability matters: advice that works on Hajin or Zodiac may fail on a returning map where the object is absent.
Weapon Augments can be bought at limited-quantity Fly Buy Stations. CQC favors faster aiming and sprint-to-fire handling; Marksman emphasizes range, velocity and steadier aim; Handling improves reload, rechamber and some movement-to-fire behavior. We see these as situational upgrades rather than a single universal meta pick. A short-range squad may value CQC, while a team holding distant angles may prefer Marksman. The patch notes establish the bonuses; they do not establish a best build across every weapon.
- Zipline Launcher: shared line that opponents can also use.
- Grabber Drone: moves loot, objects and downed allies, with limited battery.
- Weapon Augments: CQC, Marksman and Handling, sold in limited quantities.
- Moveable cover and hazards vary by map; Rebirth Island gets fuel barrels only.
Legacy weapons carry forward with a clear tradeoff
Raven says weapons and cosmetic content from earlier Call of Duty titles carry into Warzone Season 1. Legacy Weapons appear in a separate Loadout tab as preset builds or existing blueprints. They cannot be edited in Gunsmith and do not support Modern Warfare 4 Mastery Camos, reticle challenges, cosmetic Gunsmithing or build sharing. Existing attachments on a blueprint remain part of that blueprint, but this is not the same as fully customizing the weapon again.
That rule should change how returning players assess their inventory. An old favorite can still be used, yet the new weapons offer the full customization and mastery path. The fair comparison is the equipped preset against a current build, not the imaginary version of the legacy gun you used to tune. Raven says Legacy builds unlock through XP in Armory Unlocks, so check that menu before assuming a gun vanished.
Platform support deserves equal attention. Season 1 removes PS4 and Xbox One access, while adding Nintendo Switch 2. Activision says progression can carry to a supported system when you use the same linked Activision account. Before switching devices, verify the account link and current platform store listing. The official announcement does not promise that every local install or account issue resolves automatically.
What the update means for the first week
Warzone Season 1's real reset is how many decisions it changes at once. Map knowledge, weather, loot routes, equipment, weapon builds and platform access all shift together. We would spend the first session learning Hajin's broad terrain or Zodiac's vertical layers, then test one new tool in Rally Point. Only after that would we judge whether a familiar Legacy Weapon still earns its slot. This sequence is an editorial plan based on official mechanics, not a claim that it is the fastest way to win.
Activision's overview and Raven's patch notes are the sources for this report. Playlist availability and balance can change after publication, so use the live client and current patch notes for final decisions. We have not performed a hands-on playtest or measured a winning loadout. What we can confirm is the scope of the update: a new Battle Royale map, a new Resurgence map, a teaching-focused mode, equipment that changes positioning, and a more restricted role for legacy guns.
