New to Hades II? Learn how to read your weapon, choose boons that work together, and turn each attempt into useful progress instead of chasing a perfect build.

SECTION 01

Learn the weapon’s basic rhythm

A good Hades II run begins with understanding how your chosen weapon wants to fight. Spend a few encounters noticing its range, attack speed, special move, and how much time you need to stay near an enemy. You do not need to memorize every possible combo before progressing; start by learning which move feels safe and which one creates an opening for damage.

Use the training area and early rooms to test actions without treating each attempt like a final exam. If an attack leaves you exposed, create distance before using it. If a move works well against a group but poorly against a single target, keep that limitation in mind when choosing later upgrades.

SECTION 02

Choose boons that support one plan

It is tempting to pick the largest-looking damage number every time, but a run usually feels stronger when its parts support each other. Look at the move you use most often, then consider upgrades that improve that action or solve a weakness it has. A boon that adds control, safety, or a useful status effect can be more valuable than another effect that competes for the same moment.

Keep your build flexible. The rooms you encounter and the boons offered are not fully under your control, so choose a direction when the game presents one and adapt if the options change. Hades II builds are decisions made over a run, not a shopping list you must complete exactly.

  • Choose one main damage source to improve first.
  • Add defense or control if a room’s enemies keep interrupting your plan.
  • Read each boon’s exact wording before building around it.
SECTION 03

Spend resources with your next attempts in mind

Roguelike progression is partly about what you learn and partly about the options you unlock. When you return from a run, check which upgrades or tools will make future attempts more comfortable. You do not need to save every resource for a theoretical perfect purchase; a modest upgrade that helps you practice more consistently can be useful right away.

Use gathering tools and room rewards when they fit your current goal, but do not let a side objective pull you into a fight you are not prepared to take. The game offers several ways to progress, so focus on the resources connected to an upgrade you actually want to try.

SECTION 04

Use a failed run as feedback

After a run ends, identify one moment that caused trouble. Maybe you took damage while attacking, spent too long in a dangerous area, or lacked a reliable answer to a particular enemy. Make one adjustment on the next attempt and see whether it changes the result. This is a clearer way to improve than changing your weapon, route, and boon priorities all at once.

God Mode is also an option for players who want a gentler challenge curve; check the current in-game settings if you would like help learning encounters. Hades II is designed around repeated attempts, so progress can mean better decisions, new unlocks, or simply reaching a room with more confidence.
